Pregnant woman, 19, kills self days before wedding
A 19-year-old pregnant woman died after she reportedly jumped off a cliff Sunday afternoon just days away from her wedding in barangay Calumpang in Oslob town.
Police identified the fatality as Jane Gercillea, a native of Daanbantayan who temporarily stayed at the house of her fiancé, Gionneve Sormeon, 20, in Calumpang.

Reports reaching Cebu Provincial Police Office said prior to the incident, the couple was seen eating lunch at a carenderia before going home.
Sormeon told police that while they were resting inside the house, Gercillea went out unnoticed. He said he later saw her near the 30-foot cliff some 200 meters away from their house, prompting him and his brother to rush to her.
When they got near Gercillea, Sormeon said they tried to convince her to return to the house and forget whatever was bothering her.
But the woman reportedly handed her wristwatch, slippers, and a knife to Sormeon’s younger brother and said, “ingna ako mama kong mangita sila nga patay na ‘ko,” before jumping away from the cliff.
Sormeon and his brother immediately brought her to the hospital.
Police investigators are now trying to determine what was bothering the woman.
