An inmate of the Liloan Police Station detention cell who escaped in August last year was recaptured in barangay Bagatayan in Sogod town Friday evening.
Police said Marlon Montejo Brigoli, a resident of barangay Tayud in Liloan, escaped with two other inmates after he cut the iron bars of the detention cell while policemen were reportedly watching television show one evening last August.
Brigoli’s co-escapees, Jaime Busket and Junnie Maglasang, were however recaptured a few days after the jailbreak. Brigoli went into hiding until recently when the Sogod police got information that he was staying at a house of a relative at sitio Capatagan in barangay Bagatayan.
The Sogod police then sought for an arrest warrant from municipal trial court Judge Jasper Jessie Dacamay against Brigoli for a rugby-sniffing offense that was the original charge that caused his detention earlier.
Sogod policemen, SP01 William Jumao-as, P03 Elmer Mendoza, P02 Dario Denopol and P01 Raul Medez, were immediately sent to the identified hiding place of the escapee. Brigoli surrendered to the policemen peacefully.
Liloan policeman, P03 Ricardo Enriquez, said it was Brigoli’s uncle, who is also a policeman, who wanted the escapee arrested because of his addiction to rugby. — Edwin Ian Melecio/RAE
