Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia yesterday said unity and cooperation among local government units and barangays promote “phenomenal growth and development” in the grassroots level.
Speaking before the municipal and barangay officials of the third district, Garcia admitted that the district needed aggressive approach and double time for its development.
“Cebu province is always second to none and number 1 province in the country in terms of total assets, income and cash in bank,” she said. The governor, along with her brother, district Rep. Pablo John Garcia, officials of the 3rd Engineering District and barangay captains, signed a memorandum of agreement for road concreting in various villages in the district at the Capitol Social Hall. Gov. Garcia and Pablo John led the signing of agreement and turnover of key of the two mini-dump trucks to the engineering district.
She admitted that the third district is being left behind by other districts in the province.
However, with the leadership of her brother, Pablo John, the governor said she is confident that it will soon improve, as she dared the barangay officials to work hard to surpass other localities.
The governor also lauded the 3rd Engineering District for responding quickly to the calamities in their areas that transformed the negative public perception of the agency.
For his part, Pablo John also urged his constituents to work hard for the development of their district.
On the other hand, Asturias Mayor Allan Adlawan, who spoke on behalf of the town’s barangay captains, expressed gratitude over the projects extended by Gov. Garcia to his hometown.
The mayor told his constituents to show appreciation to the governor for the projects she extended to them.
“This is a challenge for all (barangay captains). Let us show the governor that we are worthy of her help by easing her burdens,” the mayor stressed. — Gerome M. Dalipe/LPM
