Korean faces charges for violating  Dental Act

Charges for violation of the Dental Act of the Philippines have been filed in court against a Korean national who was arrested for practicing dentistry without a license from the Professional Regulation Commission.

Kang Sangkoo owns and operates the Jkim Smile Dental Clinic in barangay Cabangcalan, Mandaue City. The clinic is, however, registered under the name of his wife. He was arrested by National Bureau of Investigation operatives after the PRC certified that he is not authorized to practice dental medicine in the Philippines.

The Cebu Dental Society also issued a statement that Kang is not a member of their organization. NBI regional director Medardo De Lemos said they received information several days ago about the alleged illegal activity of Kang.

De Lemos said after surveillance operations to verify the complaint, they immediately conducted an entrapment operation. An agent had his teeth cleaned at Kang’s clinic. After paying the P400 marked money to Kang’s attendant, the agent immediately arrested the Korean. — Fred P. Languido/QSB
