Two hurt in fights between friends

-

At least two men were hurt by their friends in two incidents, the first was by shooting Friday evening and the second was by stabbing yesterday dawn.

The incident yesterday dawn took place in barangay Labangon where 21-year-old John Amahan, a resident of the place, was stabbed in his armpit with a broken glass by his friend, 18-year-old Joseph Anthony Pia of barangay Bulacao.

Amahan was rushed to the hospital while the police arrested Pia from his hiding place at sitio Plastikan in Labangon moments after the attack.

Police reports stated that Amahan and Pia had a fist fight a few days ago after Amahan scolded Pia for not reciprocating the good things he did to the latter. The rift between them got more violent with the stabbing incident yesterday when the two met at sitio Kaimito in Labangon.

The other night was a shooting incident between two “habal-habal” drivers, Andrew Nemeño, 33, of sitio Plaza in barangay Apas and Roel Pableo, of sitio Kolo, Lower Nivel in barangay Lahug.

Nemeño was hit in his neck when Pableo shot him at close range with a homemade shotgun.

PO3 Geoffrey Gutual of the Homicide Section said the two had a drinking session first with another driver, identified as 38-year-old Fernando Valdez.

When the three started singing with the videoke machine, Pableo and Valdez got into an altercation over a song, and this prompted Nemeño to intervene and pacify the two.

Instead of heeding, however, Pableo punched Nemeño to the face, shifting the conflict to the two who settled it with a fistfight. Pableo, who was obviously outfought, left the place but returned a few minutes later with a shotgun and shot Nemeño once.

Pableo immediately fled on motorcycle and is now the subject of a police manhunt. The victim was rushed by SPO2 Serafin Asengjo of the Mobile Patrol Group to the hospital. — Edwin Ian Melecio/RAE
