Fetus found in church: The 9th this December
Before the year 2007 ends, another fetus was found Sunday and became the ninth in the list of fetuses found this December, based on records from the Cebu City Police Homicide Section.
Playing children found the fetus, believed to be of a female, laid in a carton box that was left behind on the foot of a religious icon at the Lourdes Parish church in barangay Punta Prinsesa.
The find was immediately reported by the children to church authorities who in turn called the Punta Prinsesa police station.
Responding policemen, SPO2 Rogelio Cañete and PO2 Silverino Beleta, brought the fetus to a funeral parlor after a priest said some prayers over her.
The series of discovery of fetuses in the city had earlier alarmed Cebu Archbishop Ricardo Cardinal Vidal who, during his homily in the Misa de Gallo, exhorted the public to value life and be responsible to children, including the unborn.
The horrible finds started on December 8 and 9 when three fetuses were found in different areas in the city, and the body of a newly born baby boy beside the fence of a school in barangay Kalunasan.
