RDC awards outstanding volunteers
The Regional Development Council-7 Central Visayas together with the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency recognized the two regional winners in the Search for Outstanding Volunteers during its full council meeting this month.
Trophies and plaques of recognition were awarded to Enrique Felisario II for the individual youth category for his outstanding volunteer work in promoting reproductive health management among the teenagers and youth.

Earlier, President Gloria Arroyo recognized the barangay volunteer workers in the country as the government’s gentle hand in its fight against extreme poverty.
Speaking before the “Natatanging Volunteer Workers in Bulacan” recently, the president revealed that she acknowledged the important role of the volunteer workers in the implementation of the government’s programs and projects, particularly in the nutrition sector.
“Much has yet to be done in the fight against poverty and that government cannot do it all alone but needs the help of the volunteer workers,” Arroyo added.
Meanwhile, the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency, the agency mandated to promote and coordinate volunteer programs and services in the country, has declared every December as National Volunteer Month.
To highlight the celebration, PNVSCA launched the Search for Outstanding Volunteer nationwide. The search recognizes the exemplary performance and dedication of individual Filipino volunteers and institutions to service and volunteer work. — Phoebe Jen Indino/BRP
