Martinez vs. Salimbangon in Bogo for 2010 elections?

The 2010 elections is expected to be another hotly contested one between the Martinez and Salimbangon clans in Bogo City.

Cesar Salimbangon, the younger brother of Cebu fourth district Rep. Benhur Salimbangon, is now groomed for the mayoralty post in the city.

Cesar is expected to go against a representative of the Martinezes in the next elections in the Salimbangon’s quest to put an end to the long reign of the Martinezes in the district.

Bogo City is now led by Mayor Celestino “Junnie” Martinez Jr. His son, former three-term Mayor Celestino “Tining” Martinez III lost the congressional seat to Benhur during the last elections.

There are talks that Junnie may run against Benhur in the congressional race in 2010, his wife Clavel for city mayor and Celestino III for a Provincial Board seat.

Cesar, during a party of one of the business ventures of the Salimbangons, was introduced as the soon to be mayor of Bogo City. He is currently manning the district office of his brother and attending to the needs of the constituents in the barangays. Cesar also owns Solid Homes, a subdivision in Bogo City. — Gregg M.
