A suspected bigtime marijuana supplier who is on the watch-list of the regional office of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency was arrested during a buy-bust operation by the police Wednesday evening along A. Soriano Street at the North Reclamation Area.
Fernan Nable, 44, a resident of barangay Gaas in Balamban town, was arrested after selling 100 grams of dried marijuana leaves to PO1 Roy Veloso, who acted as poseur-buyer using a marked P500 bill.
But after Nable’s arrest, operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Branch confiscated from him another bunch of marijuana leaves estimated to weigh 50 grams.
The suspect is said to be the supplier of marijuana in some drug-affected barangays in the city. But he denied the allegation when being sought for his reaction by The Freeman.
The CIIB operatives said they conducted the operation after receiving information regarding the suspect’s “business.”
During the operation, when the suspect reportedly showed Veloso a big pack of dried marijuana leaves wrapped in a newspaper, the policeman then signaled his companions to arrest the suspect.
The suspect, at first, tried to resist arrest, but was quickly subdued by the policemen.
Nable told The Freeman that he is not a drug supplier as what the police are claiming, saying that he makes a living by selling livestock and planting ginger in barangay Gaas.
He said he was picked up by the police and was brought to their office, adding that they then tried to convince him to admit owning the marijuana leaves.
But according PO2 Benigno Ilagan, Nable is included on the watch-list of the PDEA as a marijuana supplier. — Edwin Ian Melecio/LPM
