Members of the Sangguniang Kabataan federation of Cebu province yesterday elected their new set of officers at the provincial Capitol.
Elected federation president was Bea Mercede, the SK president of Samboan town. Mercede is the cousin of outgoing federation president Martin Calderon of the same town.
The other elected officers are Richard delos Reyes of Argao, vice president; Madel Hyacinth Herrera of Consolacion, secretary; Dessie Ann Lawas of Danao City, treasurer; April Marie Cabigas of Talisay City, auditor; and Alfredo Arquillano of San Francisco and Ron Michael Legaspino of Bantayan as sergeants-at-arm.
Of the 50 SK chairpersons of the province, only 45 attended the election.
The 17-year-old Mercede, who is currently taking up medical technology at Velez College, said fraternity violence will be among the issues that her leadership will address.
She said they would ask assistance from the Department of Interior and Local Government on how to solve this problem. — Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon/LPM
