President Gloria Arroyo will arrive in Cebu today for a series of activities, including the distribution of gifts in barangay Luz and a book launching.
In the itinerary released by the Philippine Information Agency, Arroyo is expected to arrive at the Barangay Luz Elementary School around 10 a.m. where she will lead the distribution of gifts to the residents there.
Arroyo was earlier set to visit the wake of the slain policeman PO1 Noriel Luage, but the PIA revealed that Arroyo already sent a representative to provide financial assistance to his family.
The president will be accompanied by Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña, Cebu City north district Rep. Raul del Mar, south district Rep. Antonio Cuenco and barangay officials and faculty members of the Barangay Luz Elementary School.
At 11 a.m. the president will be going to SM City-Cebu to lead the book launching of “Cebu: Pride of Place” authored and published by Marissa Fernan.
The book is a glossy 300-page coffee table book of a collection of images and photographs by Cebu-based famous photographer Billy Mondonedo.
A 10-minute video presentation of the book’s highlights will be shown during the cocktails at around noon where some 500 guests are expected to attend. — Gerome M. Dalipe/BRP
