Police nab gang member for murder

A Crips gang member, who has been wanted for murder, was arrested by the Pardo police in his house at sitio Kawayan in barangay Bulacao Saturday night.

The suspect was identified as 21-year-old Raymund Abellanosa, resident of the barangay, who was found also allegedly in possession of a .38 caliber revolver loaded with six live bullets.

Policemen confiscated the gun, which has no documents, and set the filing today of charges for illegal possession of firearms against Abellanosa.

Pardo station chief, Sr. Insp. Aureo Sanchez, led the arresting team that carried a warrant issued by Regional Trial Court-branch 18 Judge Enriquita Belarmino.

Sanchez said Abellanosa has been suspected to be the hitman of the Crips and had allegedly admitted to the police about his involvement in several gang-related fights against rival Bloods gang, one of which was the one in barangay Basak-Pardo sometime in 2004.

Policemen have also checked homicide records about Abellanosa’s alleged involvement in the shooting of a certain “Api” in sitio Newtown in barangay Pardo in 2002.

City police director, Sr.Supt. Patrocinio Comendador, said these gangs have been a problem to the peace and order situation in the city.  — Edwin Ian Melecio/RAE
