Cop faces questioning in Nursing grad’s slay

-

The  Homicide Section of the Cebu City Police Office will be summoning a policeman to shed light on the killing of a nursing graduate last Thursday afternoon while he was heading home with his mother and brother from a barangay hearing.

The hearing was regarding the alleged affair of the victim, John Sherwin Sun, 24, of Garfield Street, barangay Pahina-San Nicolas and the wife of the policeman, PO2 Armando Parot, a native of Danao City, who is assigned to the National Police Commission-7.

Investigators said the victim, his brother Ver and their mother Viginia, had just left the Labangon Barangay Hall in a Toyota Corolla with plate number GJB-205 driven by Ver when two men on a red Honda XRM motorcycle caught up with them and the man riding pillion opened fire at the back seat.

Sun was the only one sitting in the rear and was hit several times in the back, he was rushed to Chong Hua Hospital where he died shortly after.

Three empty .45 cal. shells were recovered at the crime scene.

Homicide chief Mario Monilar said, the family of the victim requested them to investigate the said policeman as he was the only known enemy of the victim.

“Maong ato siyang ipatawag tungod kay may mga pagduda ang pamilya sa namatay niya kay wala may laing kontra ug kay mao man daw ang complainant sa ilang anak,” Monilar said.

According to Monilar, Parot filed a complaint against Sun at the Fuente police station last month.

PO1 Eva Caminade of the Fuente police station said last October 23, Parot filed a report against Sun for alleged adultery after he claimed he saw Sun kissing his wife in a review center the night before.

But Sun also lodged his own complaint against Parot at the same police station the following night accusing the man of mauling him without provocation inside the same review center.

Caminade also added that Sun just recently requested a police report pertaining to the mauling incident in order to file complaints against Parot at the Regional Internal Affairs Service-7. — Edwin Ian Melecio/BRP
