Cops nab two men in  Kasambagan drug bust

Authorities arrested two men in a buy-bust outside a condominium in Kasambagan last night and seized from them a big pack of suspected shabu.

The two suspects were 49-year-old Lando Gimenez, resident of barangay Luz, and his 45-year-old cousin Ernesto Gimenez, resident of Calajuan in Minglanilla, who both denied the allegations that caused their arrest.

The joint team of the City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force and the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Branch, led by Sr. Insp. George Ylanan, caught the Gimenez cousins by using a policeman and an informant as poseur buyers of shabu.

The two came out of the building then allegedly sold to the police decoys the illegal item after receiving marked money.

Police earlier said that a big pack of shabu has an estimated value of P25,000, an amount that varies depending on the availability of supply.

Ernesto has also admitted being a relative of a controversial drug suspect from Hong Kong but he refused to elaborate.

Last Wednesday afternoon, the CIIB also arrested Melodina Sotelleza, the number six on the list of suspected drug pushers in the city. — Edwin Ian Melecio/RAE
