Emission test for government cars today

Since car emissions are considered main air pollutants, the Environmental Management Bureau-7 will require government vehicles of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, the Land Transportation Office, the Department of Trade and Industry, and the Technical Education Skills Development Agency to undergo a free emission test today in line with the observance of the “Clean Air Month”.

The emission testing is set to take place in these government agencies’ respective compounds.

The EMB will also meet with taxicab and van-for-hire operators on Friday, from 1:30 to 4:00 p.m. at the DENR-7 Training Hall to discuss issues on air pollution brought about by car emissions.

After that, there will be a four-day roadside emission testing and chlorofluorocarbons (CFC) monitoring to be done simultaneously in the cities of Cebu, Mandaue, Lapu-Lapu and Talisay from November 26 to 29 to encourage owners, drivers and operators to have their vehicles tested and checked regularly for emissions and CFCs.

The move is also in support to the Department of Interior and Local Government’s “Linis Hangin sa Siyudad/Munisipyo Program,” which eyes to promote the advocacy among local government units, government agencies, the academe, private firms and industrial partners. – Phoebe Jen Indino/MEEV
