Man’s body with gunshot wounds found in Busay

A body of an unidentified man with gunshot wounds to the mouth and head was found lying on a mound of dried mud at a dried-up creek in sitio Garahe of barangay Busay yesterday dawn.

Police said the man, who was wearing a sleeveless shirt and dark blue short pants, was estimated to be about 30 years old, 5’6 in height and slim-built.

Inspector Mario Monilar, chief of the Cebu City Police Office Homicide Section, told The Freeman that the victim was shot at close range in a summary execution by people who maybe known to the victim himself.

A resident in the area who was going to Ayala Heights at the time, told investigators led by SPO4 Alex Dacua that he first heard successive bursts of gunfire and, shortly after, saw three men on a black Kia car leaving the scene towards the city.

The witness failed to get the full plate number from the vehicle’s license plate except for its “UBX” letters.

He then saw the body of a man on the creek, prompting him to call the police.  — Edwin Ian Melecio/RAE
