City Police anti-crime drive nets 4 suspects

A total of four people were arrested, and illegal drugs and guns were seized by the City Police in two anti-crime operations around the city from Thursday evening until Friday dawn.

The operations were conducted by the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Branch and the City-Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force led by Senior Insp. George Ylanan.

The latest operation was at the interior part of sitio Baho in barangay Calamba that resulted in the arrest of Perlito Lacaron, 28, and Abram Villanueva, 19, both from A. Lopez Street of the barangay.

The police team, headed by SPO1 Filomeno Mendaros, found from Lacaron’s possession four ampoules of Nubain and three more ampoules of the same regulated drug from Villanueva.

Cebu City is the only city that has an ordinance penalizing the abuse and regulating the use of Nubain, and the local police had been lobbying for the drug’s inclusion in the list of regulated drugs under the Dangerous Drugs Law.

Earlier last Thursday evening, the same team of Mendaros arrested two people from Tormis Extension in barangay Sambag Uno for possession of shabu-sniffing paraphernalia, a .45 caliber gun with three magazines and 24 live ammunitions.

The two suspects were Mariano Jesus Go, 45, a resident of G. Ouano Street in barangay Alang-alang, Mandaue City, and Dennis Narvasa, 29, of Tormis Extension of Sambag Uno. —Edwin Ian Melecio and Ramil V. Ayuman/RAE
