The provincial government has agreed to fund the development of a subdivision project for the Cebu Public School Teachers Association in barangay Busay.
The project, dubbed “Teachers’ Village,” was started during the time of then governor Vicente dela Serna, who executed a deed of conditional sale in favor of CPSTA for the sale through installments of P66 million for the 13 contiguous lots containing an area of 335, 813 square meters. The teachers’ organization was supposed to finance the development of the lot.
However, due to some constraints, the CPSTA was able to pay only P34 million, leaving an unpaid balance of P32 million, which remains unpaid until the present. Thus, the CPSTA asked the help of the province to undertake the development of the subdivision.
During yesterday’s signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, who represented the province, said that the province will have to conduct a full and comprehensive study on the project.
She added that the province will also review the subdivision plans and designs, the necessary engineering works, development and project cost.
Under the MOU, the 636 lots shall be reserved for CPSTA members who have already made partial payments to CPSTA. – Garry B. Lao/QSB
