6 Parian SK council bets to draw lots to break tie

-

Six bets who tied for barangay Parian’s Sangguniang Kabataan sixth council member will have to draw lots to determine who will take the council seat.

City north district election officer Marchel Sarno said the six candidates, according to the Commission on Election’s General Instruction in case a tie happens, would have to draw lots before the barangay Board of Canvassers.

The six SK candidates were asked to come back on Monday for the process since the canvassers and one of the candidates were not around yesterday.

SK bets Mark Sesante, Jollyjoie Serad, Rhaymond Ursal, Anthony Tadena, Bernard Mati and Christian Nicon all got 17 votes. Two of them will take 6th and 7th places in their barangay’s SK Council seats. Actually, three bets tied for the seventh place, but none of them will be able to take the seat as one of the mentioned six bets will assume it.

Meanwhile, outgoing San Jose barangay chief Rodegelio Arinasa, the husband of barangay chief-elect Merinisa, yesterday cried foul over reports that his wife lost to rival Edgar Borces.

Rodegelio, in a phone interview, told The FREEMAN that as of early evening of October 29, it was already clear that Merinisa won in the elections, and on the afternoon of the next day she was proclaimed winner.

However, Borces had reportedly called up a local paper (not The FREEMAN) and radio stations announcing his victory. When the “wrong news” spread yesterday, Rodegelio said that it created confusion among their supporters.

“Nagubot ganihang buntag. Pero amo na’ng gipakita sa among nga supporters ang photocopy sa Certificate of Canvass,” he said.

As to why Borces spread the wrong news, Rodegelio, who is now on his last term, said he has no idea, except that the former might have been angered by the results. He, however, advised that if Borces wants to file a protest, he could do so before the Comelec.
