Governor Gwendolyn Garcia has asked President Arroyo to appoint Justice Portia Hormachuelos as presiding justice of the Court of Appeals.
“As Cebuano of unquestioned integrity, competence and knowledge of the law, (Justice) Hormachuelos has been efficient and effective in performing her duties and responsibilities as a Justice and has earned the respect of the members of the bench and the bar,” Garcia said in her letter to Arroyo.
Hormachuelos is currently the Associate Justice of the CA.
For Garcia, Hormachuelos deserves the position because the latter “has given us so much pride and honor as Cebuano.”
“Her untarnished record is a living testament of her diligence and moral uprightness in government service,” the letter further read.
The governor also said that Hormachuelos’ appointment “will certainly augur well for the efficient implementation of this administration’s justice system.
“Let’s give her (Hormachuelos) the chance to serve as presiding justice of the appellate court,” Garcia said. — Gerome M. Dalipe/MEEV
