Some roads turned into basketball courts
The roads are for the vehicles, but some stretches of roads in
This prompted some motorists to complain to City Hall and request city officials to remove the basketball goals like the ones along
According to the complainants, if a motorist wishes to pass by the stretch of the road where people are playing basketball, he or she has to wait for a few minutes until the players allow them to pass.
“Usahay magsuko-suko pa nga dunay sakyanan nga moagi sa karsada nga anaa sila magduwa,” one of the complainants said through the city’s official website.
Chief city planner Nigel Paul Villarete, the administrator of the city’s official website, assured the complainants they will act on their complaints.
Some of the complainants also suggested the City Council should enact an ordinance penalizing anybody who plays basketball in the roads and obstruct the flow of traffic.
The obstruction of passage by people who play basketball in the streets was not included in the provisions of the newly approved city ordinance sponsored by Councilor Raul Alcoseba.
Alcoseba’s ordinance only penalizes those who close a stretch of the road for recreational, religious and other activities without permit from City Hall. — Rene U. Borromeo/BRP
