Citom, DPWH asked to study N. Bacalso traffic case

The City Council has requested the City Traffic Operations Management and the Department of Public Works and Highways to do a five-year projection of traffic volume in Natalio Bacalso Avenue and recommend solutions to the congestion there.

Councilors Sylvan “Jack” Jakosalem and Roberto Cobarrubias said the traffic problem along Natalio Bacalso Avenue, particularly at the junction of V. Rama Avenue, is becoming worse, especially during peak hours in the morning and the afternoon.

They said that traffic congestion in that area causes schedule and appointment delays, and stress and anxiety to the public.

Citom and DPWH should make a traffic profile survey then determine the traffic peak time and types of vehicles using the road in these times.

Natalio Bacalso Avenue is the main road for vehicles going to the south from the uptown area and Mandaue City.

Cebu City South District Rep. Antonio Cuenco earlier said he planned to build an overpass at the intersection of Natalio Bacalso and V. Rama Avenues to decongest the traffic problem in that area. — Rene U. Borromeo/RAE
