Roderos approves 45-day suspension of Liddawa

Police Regional Office –7  director Ronald Roderos has approved the recommendation to put former Subangdaku Police chief, Sr. Insp. Jose Liddawa, under a 45-day preventive suspension.

It was Mandaue City Police Office director Rodel Calungsod who recommended for the suspension of Liddawa after a pre-charge investigation was conducted against the latter for breach of internal discipline with Calungsod as the nominal complainant.

Regional Investigation Detective Management chief Arturo Evangelista yesterday said that the pre-charge investigation found that there was probable cause to indict Liddawa.

He said Liddawa’s case folder was forwarded last Friday to Roderos, and later to the Regional Human Resource Development Division headed by Supt. Alex Castro.

Castro yesterday said his office had already docketed the case against Liddawa and assigned it to Chief Insp. Henry Biñas, the summary hearing officer.

Although the PRO-7 director is empowered to suspend Liddawa for a 90-day period, Evangelista explained that Calungsod recommended for 45 days only with the anticipation that the summary hearing officer could resolve the case within this period.

Two weeks ago, Liddawa was accused of driving while drunk and on the wrong side of the road, hitting a pick-up of ABS-CBN television station, and punching the TV crew. — Flor Z. Perolina/RAE
