3 killed in separate incidents

A motorcycle-for-hire driver was shot to dead by a lone assailant while he was on his way home last Saturday night in sitio Agbangon, barangay Adlawon, while two other persons were killed in separate incident also within Cebu City.

Dexter Zanoria, of barangay Adlawon was driving his Honda XRM motorcycle with plate number IM-6022 on his way home together with a 14-year-old boy when he was shot by a man with a .45 cal. pistol.

The minor was able to jump off the motorcycle and fled upon seeing that the assailant was armed.

As the victim lay sprawled on the ground the assailant finished him off before fleeing towards the mountains.

Residents who heard the gunshots immediately sought the help of PO3 Aldwin Quimbo who immediately rushed to the scene but the victim was no longer breathing when he got there.

Homicide investigator PO3 Henry Orbiso said they found .45 cal. shells and some masiao tally sheets at the crime scene, but he said they do not yet know if these belonged to the victim or the assailant.

Aside from Zanoria’s death, the Homicide Section also responded to another shooting incident along San Andres Street, barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City.

Rayland Gabucan, 25, a resident of the place, was standing at the roadside yesterday dawn when the alleged assailant Puerto Tapalis, a jeepney driver, arrived and shot him twice in his chest with a shotgun, killing him instantly.

Homicide police said they have yet to establish the motive behind the incident.

Meanwhile, a 29-year-old man was declared dead on arrival at the North General Hospital after he was stabbed several times by two men along Leyson Street, barangay Talamban, yesterday dawn.

Homicide police identified the victim as Roland Lagaac, a resident of the said place, while the two assailants were only identified as certain “Ilyong” and “Kerbie”.

PO3 Orbiso said that before the incident took place, the victim was with his friend Kenneth Seno and passed by a two groups of youths who were throwing stones at each other.

The two assailants were in one of the groups, but since Seno knew them he tried to stop them and got threatened instead.

Yesterday dawn Lagaac went out of their house to buy cigarettes and both the assailants passed him by on a motorcycle.  They recognized Lagaac as Seno’s companion, chased him and stabbed him several times.

Both assailants fled as bystanders rushed Lagaac to the hospital, but he failed to make it there alive. — Flor Z.Perolina/BRP
