“Rogue’s gallery”  for cops launched

People who fall victim to harassment and extortion by policemen can now identify the erring policemen at the regional office of the National Police Commission, which has created the Philippine National Police E-photo Gallery.

Napolcom regional director Bernardo Calibo launched the project last August 9.

With the creation of the e-photo gallery, it will now be easy for the Napolcom personnel to scan their computers for photographs of 6,230 PNP personnel in the region.

Photographs of the PNP personnel in Central Visayas were taken from the personnel data sheets that the policemen submitted during the recently concluded “Oplan Bilang”.

The e-photo gallery was conceptualized so that Napolcom can easily identify policemen who may commit crimes while hiding their nameplates and identification cards.

Other Napolcom offices in other parts of the country are expected to follow with their own e-photo galleries.  Flor Z. Perolina/BRP
