Citom on ‘No Fault Zone’ policy Traffic enforcement in Banilad improves

Traffic enforcement in Banilad has improved so far so the area would remain a “no fault zone,” declared City Traffic Operations Management executive officer Arnel Tancinco.

“No fault zone” means implementation of all traffic rules and regulations of the city in an area covering all kinds of vehicles.

Some 20 traffic personnel have been detailed to the Banilad area to enforce the “no fault zone” policy, which the Citom Board had approved.

Tancinco said the aim of the policy was to improve the flow of traffic there and to monitor the performance of Citom personnel in regulating traffic.

Tancinco said that since the “no fault zone” policy was imposed in Banilad last July 16, the flow of traffic along Governor Cuenco Avenue has been doing well.

There have been noticeable discipline among drivers, and traffic enforcers assigned there have improved their job in carrying out traffic laws, he said.

The implementation of no fault zone is provided under the City Ordinance No. 801, or the Traffic Code of Cebu City.

Earlier, Tancinco said the focus was in Banilad due to the big volume of vehicles and the perceived high number of traffic violations in that area.

Tancinco said the “no traffic zone” policy will be enforced soon in all other parts of the city. — Wenna A. Berondo/RAE
