At least seven alleged members of Crips gangs, one of whom is a minor, were charged with murder over the killing of a graduating dentistry student Friday morning.
The minor suspect, who is 16 years old, was arrested by the police Saturday morning along P. Del Rosario Extension in barangay Sambag 1 after he was tagged by the girlfriend of the victim, who is identified as Michael Lumbuan Dogol-dogol.
Dogol-dogol was with his girlfriend walking along Urgello Street in barangay Sambag 1 when he was reportedly shot by the suspects. He was rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead upon arrival.
Aside from the minor, those charged by the Homicide Section of the Cebu City Police Office were Jessie Camacho, Tisha Jane Maeirhoffer and four John Does.
Homicide Section chief Mario Monilar told The Freeman that the killing was related to fraternity since the victim was said to be a member of Alpha Kappa Rho, which is a bitter enemy of Crips gang in the area.
Based on the accounts of the victim’s girlfriend, she and the victim were having lunch at an eatery in the area when Camacho and Maierhoffer went inside appeared to be looking for someone.
She said she then overheard the victim talk to the cashier: “Manong, mura man og kontra to nako.” But she said her boyfriend did not take the threat seriously and they proceeded to finish the food and went out of the eatery.
While they were on their way home, the witness said she saw Camacho and Maierhoffer stand at the roadside with four unidentified men smiling sarcastically.
At this instance, the victim approached the group and said, “ok ra mo bay?” Camacho allegedly answered, “taga diri ra mi bay.”
When Dogol-dogol turned his back from the group, the witness said she saw the minor draw out an undetermined caliber of firearm and shoot his boyfriend three times.
As Dogol-dogol fell to the ground, the suspects immediately fled while his girlfriend sought assistance from the bystanders who then brought the victim to Chong Hua Hospital. —Edwin Ian Melecio/LPM
