Burglars broke into two houses in Minglanilla town Saturday evening and ran off with pieces of jewelry and valuables amounting to P126,000.
The victims were identified as 40-year-old Arnel Joyohoy of Villa Feliza Subdivision in barangay Tungkil, and 40-year-old Merly Bartolaba of Springwood Village in barangay Tulay.
Both Joyohoy and Bartolaba were not in their respective houses at the time of the burglary.
The burglars gained entry by destroying the locks of the back doors of the two houses, said SPO1 Renato Masangkay of the Minglanilla Police Station.
Joyohoy lost to the burglars his licensed Taurus magnum .357 caliber revolver worth P29,000, his P45,000 laptop, and his P8,000-worth Italian necklace. Bartolaba lost her P4,000 Motorola cellular phone, her P3,000 Nokia cell phone, her P20,000 pair of earrings, her P4,000 necklace, her P2000 ring, and her P6000 cash.
Minglanilla police investigators said one of the perpetrators belongs to the notorious Akyat Bahay Gang and is now under surveillance. — Flor Z. Perolina/RAE
