Two men arrested for robbing student

Two men were arrested after being suspected of robbing a female student last Wednesday afternoon in barangay Kamagayan while police also arrested another man for possession of regulated drugs.

Mobile Patrol Group investigators said Jason Mangigo Batoon, 19, of barangay Kamagayan and Benjamin Flores of La Guerta, barangay Lahug, along with another man identified only as “Dodong” robbed Maria Chatty Lacamaria, 24, a college student and a resident of barangay Dapitan, Cordova town, who was walking along P. Del Rosario Street.

The suspects waylaid the victim and took her black bag containing her cellphone, P1,200 cash and a kilo of grapes, but before they could escape the victim shouted for help catching the attention of other people in the area.

A brief chase ensued and Batoon was cornered by a mob and later arrested by PO3 Eric Tajanlangit and PO2 Rodulfo Bolambao of the Mobile Patrol Group.

Batoon guided the policemen, now assisted by PO1s Norman Rupita and Meonik Cabañero who came in another MPG patrol car, to the interior portion of barangay Kamagayan but they failed to arrest the other robbers.

While scouring the area, police noticed Neil Rodriguez who looked like one of the other robbers as described by the victim and frisked him.  They found on him a syringe, one vial of “Furosemide” and another vial of “Tranadol” which are regulated drugs.

Batoon then led the policemen to La Guerta in Lahug where they arrested Flores and the recovered the black bag of the victim but without its contents.
