The Cabahug family, “balikbayans” of Liloan from the U.S., endorsed the promotion of ranks of four policemen at the Mactan Cebu International Airport for finding and returning a wallet containing dollar bills equivalent to P100,000.

The four policemen are PO3 Alfredo Diano, PO1 Alcistes Roxas, PO1 Harrifel Espinosa, and PO1 Ronaldo Rita-all of the PNP Aviation unit detailed to the airport.

The four found the wallet left at the entrance of the airport’s departure area last May 18, traced its owner and returned it intact to Mrs. Urseta Cabahug.

Mrs. Cabahug, her husband Camelo and their children were “balikbayans” of Liloan town and were returning for Los Angeles, California then when she inadvertently left behind her wallet and the money at the airport’s entrance.

Mrs. Cabahug thanked the honest policemen, assigned at the airport, saying she and her family would be willing to support the promotion of these officers to higher ranks.

“I’m so happy nga there are still fine and honest policemen. Not all are dishonest. Nalipay gyud ko ug kun dunay angayan ihatag nga promotion angayan gyud sila i promote,” she told TV Patrol Central Visayas when interviewed after the recovery of her money.

Mr. Cabahug also urged the top officials of the Police Regional Office-7 to give recognition to these four policemen, and give them rank promotion because of their acts that build a good image to the police force.

“In the future, if there are promotion due them, then i will be the one to tell the promotion officer to promote these four policemen,” said Mr. Cabahug before he and his family got into their plane.

PO3 Diano told TV Patrol: “We were just doing our job unya makasalig gyud mo nga duna pay mga buotan ug masaligan nga pulis. Wa gyud mi maibog. Dako gyud ni nga money pero wala mi maibog ug amo gyud ning giuli. Looy sab kaayo kun inig ka abot wala sab sila magamit nga kuwarta.” — Ramil V. Ayuman/RAE
