Valium tablets believed to contain dangerous drugs were shipped to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Manila for examination.

PDEA-7 director Amado Marquez said after the final inventory of the 93,528 tablets, these were shipped to Manila for final examination at the PDEA laboratory.

Last week PDEA operatives arrested Rodrigo Estillore and Isidra Bacang in Mandaue City for violating the comprehensive dangerous drugs act for allegedly transporting the drugs through the Philippine Postal Corporation.

Marquez said after the result of the examination from their Manila office they will file another criminal complaint for possession of dangerous drugs against Estillore, Bacang and the alleged owner of the tablets Belgian Joseph Vanhemelem.

Estillore and Bacang claimed they did not know the tablets contained drugs.

Marquez also denied that his impending transfer has something to do with the recent accomplishment.  Marquez said he is expecting his relief anytime as he has headed the PDEA-7 for more than two years already.

However, PDEA-7 legal counsel Paul Oaminal said the committee on House Committee on Dangerous Drugs headed by Rep. Roque Ablan and Rep. Antonio Cuenco has opposed the transfer of Marquez.  -Ramil V. Ayuman/BRP
