Not even a police officer is safe from burglars, and a 29-year-old policeman found this to be true when he became the victim himself right in his house.
PO1 Julius Blanco Aniñon, of the city police’s Vice Control Section, reported that he lost his gun and pieces of jewelry to burglars while he was asleep in his room of his house at Buena Hills Subdivision in barangay Guadalupe yesterday dawn.
Aniñon told the police’s Theft and Robbery Section that the burglars entered his house then his room undetected through the comfort room windows where the jalousie panes were detached.
He woke up to find out that it was too late. The burglary was done and the burglars already left, taking from his room his .45-caliber pistol loaded with 10 bullets, his P7000-worth watch, his P18,000-worth cell phone, and pieces of jewelry.
The lost jewelry consisted of necklace, bracelet and gold rings, including his Philippine National Police class ring, and was worth a total of P49,000, he said.
The TRS is still investigating the burglary, and it was not yet clear if the stolen gun was a government-issued one. — Edwin Ian Melecio/RAE
