Homicide investigators identified the victim as Bonifacio Uy, 27, a technician and a resident of the said place who also ekes out a living by accepting lodgers.
According to Uy, he was standing at the roadside when the suspect he only referred to as "Rain" approached him. He said he did not notice that Rain was carrying a gun until he was shot at close range.
Uy was hit in the right side of the torso. He said that the suspect, upon seeing him grimace in pain, hurriedly left the area. Uy still managed to take himself to the Chong Hua Hospital for treatment.
He told PO3 Buenaventura Ursaiz of the Homicide Section that earlier that day, he and the suspect had a heated argument after he asked the suspect to look for another place to stay.
However, it was not made clear if the alleged assailant failed to pay his rent, thus the reason for his eviction.  Edwin Ian Melecio/MEEV
