Akbay Pinoy vows to champion OFW rights

-
The Akbay Pinoy OFW-National Incorporated has been given accreditation by the Commission on Elections as a party list giving it the right to seek a seat in Congress in the May polls.

Akbay Pinoy OFW-National Inc was an active participant in the past two EDSA Revolutions and was first given an official recognition by the Securities and Exchange Commission on October 28, 2002 following its formation by a group of individuals sharing common beliefs.

With Ka Adel Lazaro standing as its leader, APOI basically caters to the OFW sector that includes the "Balikbayans", migrant workers currently in vacation, individuals applying overseas employment and those with relatives working abroad.

Though humbly born and not as big as other much publicized organizations, the group has proven its sincere dedication to help the OFW sector without expecting anything in return. APOI has become instrumental in giving aid to its member base delivering services from different community organizations as well as giving employment assistance, free legal assistance, multi-level medical assistance, micro-financing and the repatriation of overseas Filipino workers.

Currently an official candidate in the party list race, APOI is once again asserting the group''s goal of nation building through empowering the people, this time by giving them the necessary voice in Congress. APOI then promises to be of best service to the OFW sector wanting to ensure job security here and abroad, protecting the rights of the OFWs and to uphold their individual hopes and dreams and those of their families. - Efmer Agustin, UP Tacloban Intern
