Borbon mayoralty aspirant Bernard "Butch" Sepulveda, who used to be a known political allay of Osmeña, said Garcia provided them with several projects that caused the town’s economic development.
Sepulveda, who is now in his third term as vice mayor, is seeking to replace Mayor Niel Vergara, a candidate for vice mayor.
Osmena, who owns huge tracts of land in the town, is strongly campaigning for gubernatorial candidate Antonio Yapha and his runningmate, Clavel Asas-Martinez.
He even joined Yapha and Martinez in their campaign sorties in Borbon and other towns in northern Cebu.
Earlier this month, the camp of Yapha and Martinez attempted but failed to conduct a rally at the Borbon Municipal Sports Complex as they reportedly failed to secure a permit from the municipal government.
But Sepulveda said the non-issuance of the permit stemmed from the threat of the New People’s Army to initiate an attack, prompting the police to be on red alert.
Meanwhile, Sepulveda said Garcia and Vice Governor Greg Sanchez Jr. made possible the improvement of eight-kilometer road from the town proper up to the mountain barangay of Sagay, as well as the improvement of the Poblacion-Sogod road.
Garcia and Sanchez brainstormed Tabogon and Borbon last Thursday, assuring the residents in the two towns that they would allocate huge funds for road and livelihood projects.  Jose P. Sollano/LPM
