For the third time: Burglars strike motorcycle sales outlet; take P40T cash

For the third time burglars struck Honda Power Cycle Inc., at the corner of V. Rama and N. Bacalso Avenues, yesterday dawn and this time the burglars made off with P40,000 in cash and a cellular phone.

Aloysius Enicuela, manager of the display center said the money was inside a vault and it was the third time that the establishment lost some cash and valuables since it first opened business in June last year.

The management discovered the burglary when the establishment opened at 7am yesterday, and the police gathered that it might have happened hours earlier.

The police said the establishment''s roll-up door was destroyed, apparently with the use of a crowbar and screwdrivers. The burglars were able to open the glass door and took the money from the vault and the cellular phone left behind by a personnel.

Witnesses told the police that at dawn that day they saw a taxi parked by the roadside outside the establishment, and the police surmised that this might be the getaway vehicle that the burglars used.

Enicuela said that, during the first day the establishment opened its business, a visitor lost P14,000 in cash and a P17,000-worth cellular phone to unidentified thieves inside the place.

Records at the Theft and Robbery Section also showed that the second thievery also took place last year when burglars entered through the windows and ran off with an undetermined amount of cash.

The police have records also of other burglaries that hit business establishments. Last April 13, the LBC office in barangay Mambaling lost P39,000 and a cellular phone to burglars that used a crowbar to open forcibly the place.

Last April 16, the Inca Plastic firm along MJ Cuenco in barangay Mabolo also lost P220,000 to burglars that also used a crowbar in destroying its roll-up door to gain entry. - Flor Z. Perolina/RAE
