GSIS launches search for outstanding workers

-
As its way of recognizing and rewarding government officials and employees who have shown consistent dedicated performance and achievements that contributed toward the improvement of government service, the Government Service Insurance System has launched the Search for Seven Outstanding Public Servants.

The search is one of the activities of the GSIS in celebration of its 70th year anniversary, said Arnaldo Cuasay, senior vice president of the Admin Group and chairman of the GSIS Anniversary Committee.

In order to qualify, the nominee must be in the government service in a permanent capacity at the time of nomination (GSIS officials and employees are not eligible for nomination).

He must have been rated at least Very Satisfactory or its equivalent for the last two consecutive performance rating periods prior to his nomination and must not have been found guilty of any administrative or criminal offense involving moral turpitude and have no pending administrative or criminal case at the time of nomination. The period covered is the past 6 years, 2001-2006.

The criteria for evaluation include performance, observable or manifested attributes, professionalism and integrity, loyalty to government service, excellence and courtesy.

The heads of national government agency or any of its instrumentalities, heads of government organizations, local government unit heads, or heads of corporations, state colleges and universities may nominate their candidates for the Search. The agency may endorse at most two employees.

The deadline for submission of nominations is on April 20, 2007. The nomination forms are available at any GSIS Office and downloadable from the GSIS Website www.gsis.gov.ph.

The awardees shall be presented and awarded during the GSIS Gala Night at the Sofitel Hotel Philippine Plaza on May 31, 2007 in the presence of President Gloria Arroyo. - Jasmin R. Uy/BRP
