The Department of Education announced that this training is part of its continuing capability building program for these non-specialist teachers.
Education Undersecretary Ramon Bacani, in his memorandum, said the training program includes content, strategies in teaching the content, investigatory projects appropriate to the content, care and use of equipment, and assessment for learning.
The program's budget will be drawn from DepEd's allocation under the Pump Priming Programs in Education for 2006.
President Gloria Arroyo recently emphasized the importance of a continuing enhancement program for teachers for the improvement of the proficiency of students in Math, Science and English subjects so that they could cope with the challenges of the times.
President Arroyo then ordered state universities and colleges to grant tuition fee discounts to teachers taking enhancement courses in the three subjects this summer.
She also directed NBN 4, the government's television channel, in coordination with the DepEd to air "Teleserye Para Kay Ma'am," a teacher enhancement program in Math, Science and English.
