Lito leads Yapha-Martinez sortie in Carnaza Island

-
Former governor Emilio "Lito" Osmeña led the campaign for representatives Antonio Yapha and Clavel Asas-Martinez for governor and vice governor, respectively, in Carnaza Island in Daanbantayan town, where he has a property.

However, Osmeña reportedly dropped the local opposition candidates lead by mayoralty candidate Augusto Corro who are under Yapha-Martinez ticket.

Incumbent Mayor Maria Luisa Loot said that barangay officials of Carnaza and her political leaders have reported to her about their "nyorito" (referring to Osmeña) asking them to only vote for Yapha and Martinez in order not to embarrass him.

Osmeña also asked the people to just vote for the group of Loot lead by mayoralty candidate Sun Shimura, her son, against Corro saying he and Loot are friends but he never knew Corro whom he said "just arrived in the town" to manifest his interest to run for mayor.

Osmeña reportedly claimed to be the only person who could provide the needs of barangay Carnaza, being always there in his property rather than the Provincial Capitol which is far from the people in the island.

But Loot said that the people themselves are resisting the request of their "nyorito" because Yapha and Martinez authored the bills seeking to divide Cebu into several provinces.

Loot added that due to the demand of the people in barangay Carnaza, she will bring Governor Gwendolyn Garcia and Vice Governor Gregorio Sanchez Jr. in their campaign during this period so the Capitol officials themselves can hear the voice of the people in the island. - Gregg M. Rubio/BRP
