Operatives of the Theft and Robbery Section yesterday arrested a man who was about to sell a roll of copper wire to a junk shop along Manalili Street.
The team, led by SPO3 Isagani Pugoy, was patrolling the area when they noticed a man who acted suspiciously while bringing along with him a roll of copper wire which he was about to sell at a sidewalk junk shop for P200 per kilo.
When asked where he got the roll of copper wire, the suspect, Marlon Gimena, said a security guard of Cebu Advance Electronics was the one who asked him to sell the item.
When the police checked the establishment, they found the security guard named Roy Solano of Horizon Security already off duty and was fast asleep.
The police found out that Solano and Gimena connived by sneaking the rolled copper wire from an unlocked window of a stock room at the third floor of the said firm.
A technician of the electronics shop also found out during the course of the investigation that three more rolls of copper wire were placed at the alley on the third floor of their building believed to be readied for disposal had Gimena successfully sold the first roll.
