The biennial award provides an incentive program for individuals or groups that contribute to the development of the country's science education through innovative and exemplary leadership. It has two categories: the institutional and individual.
Institutional award is given to institutions that have consistently demonstrated leadership qualities in science education. Their innovative performance must have generated nationwide impact on public interest in science.
The innovation award, on the other hand, is conferred to an individual or institution that introduces technological invention that benefits the science education.
First placer for both awards will receive P150,000 and a gold medal, second will receive P100,000 and a silver medal while the third garners P75,000.
Nominees will go through a two-stage selection process. The first is pre-qualification or short listing by a board of evaluators. Once they qualify, they will undergo an evaluation under the national selection phase. - Ferliza C. Contratista/LPM
