2 killed after getting hit by cars

Two people were killed in after being struck by private vehicles in the towns of Alegria and Oslob last Saturday.
The first incident took place at about 9:25 a.m. in sitio Locon, barangay Madridejos, Alegria town, where the police identified the victim as Albert Paulin Lastimosa, 50, who works for the town as a garbage collector, and a resident of barangay Madridejos, Alegria.
He was hit by the Isidor Barina, 24, of barangay Poblacion, Alegria, who was driving a black Suzuki pickup with plate number YAL-128.
PO2 Leopoldo Tagalog yesterday said that the victim was collecting garbage at the said place when the vehicle driven by Barina who was traveling south accidentally hit him.
The victim sustained severe injures to his head was immediately brought to the Reinhard Wertgen Memorial Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival by doctors.
Barina also suffered minor injuries when his vehicle fell to a ditch near the seashore, he is now detained at the police station. Charges for reckless imprudence resulting to homicide are set to be filed against him today, Tagalog said.
The second incident happened in sitio Catadman, barangay Bonbon, Oslob town, at about 2:50 in the afternoon.
Genara Benghit, 55, a widow, and a resident of the place was hit by the Mitsubishi Pajero bearing plate number YBW-785 driven by Peter Chang, 36, of barangay Bantayan, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental.
Investigation conducted by PO2s Eduardo Seno and Winston Peñaranda revealed that the vehicle driven by Chang was heading south. It had just rained and the road was slippery, causing the vehicle to swerve out of control and hit Benghit who was crossing the street.
Benghit was taken to the Oslob District Hospital but did not make it there alive. Chang surrendered himself to the police station after he incident.
