The Department of Education and the Office of the Ombudsman have released new teaching modules on the prevention of graft and corruption in a move to intensify the integration of the subject in school curricula.
"As we look at ways to solve the many social woes that plague our country, we recognize the important role of education in transforming our students to become true assets instead of liabilities in our quest for nation building," DepEd Secretary Jesli Lapus said during the launch of the new Graft and Corruption Prevention Education Teaching Exemplars.
This new edition of modules consists of 52 teaching modules aimed to instill to students the value of honesty, integrity, professionalism and simple living, with the hope that these can help build a more honest, transparent and accountable government.
"A total of 203,113 copies of this second edition of teaching exemplars will be cascaded to about 44,412 elementary and secondary schools nationwide," Lapus said.
Lapus underscored the importance of the exemplars to the lives of all Filipino students.
"Through these Teaching Exemplars, we hope to equip our teachers with the competencies they require to effectively inculcate in our young the proper values that will enable them to become truly responsible citizens," he added.
