The Cebu City Police Office is looking into the discovery of a police badge and three identification cards of two rookie policemen inside a drug den in barangay Basak-San Nicolas that was raided by police last Monday evening.
CCPO director Sr. Supt. Patrociño Comendador said he is now checking on the records of PO1 Sherif Goopio and PO1 Julieto Elarcosa, both members of the Regional Mobile Group based in Sibonga town.
The two were assigned at the CCPO during the holding of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Summit in January under the Field Training Program.
During the raid, police arrested Giovanne Flores, 26, and Roel Abellar, 43, both residents of Tagunol, Basak-San Nicolas, for possessing one pack of suspected shabu each.
During the search on the drug den, police found Goopio's expired driver's license, his CCPO identification card and police badge, and Elarcosa' Public Safety Savings and Loan Association Inc. identification card.
Comendador said he already invited Elarcosa to explain how his ID card was found in the drug den. According to him, Elarcosa claimed that he lend his ID card to Goopio since he was the co-maker when Goopio applied for a cash loan few weeks ago.
Based on Elarcosa's account, Goopio did not report back to RMG after finishing their FTP duties with CCPO. Comendador is also checking on the report that Goopio, who lives in Labangon, has already resigned.
Investigators, however, have yet look into the records of the Regional Human Resource Development Division of the regional police office for confirmation. - Edwin Ian Melecio/LPM
