Day-as council recommends councilwoman Quijano's ouster
February 22, 2007 | 12:00am
The barangay council of Day-as approved a resolution terminating Suzette Quijano from being a councilwoman, allegedly due to frequent absences from barangay sessions.
Day-as barangay captain Michael Ocleasa said the barangay council had notified councilwoman Quijano last January 16 on the matter, and it recently agreed to have a resolution recommending for her ouster.
"It is the collective opinion of the majority members of the barangay council that you are no longer interested in serving the barangay, considering your numerous absences in 2006 and all regular sessions of 2007," the barangay council wrote Quijano.
Ocleasa, in a talk last night with The Freeman, said this resolution was already submitted to the city council for proper action.
The city council, after receiving the recommendation from the Day-as barangay council, will refer the case to a committee of three councilors, which would come from the south district considering that Day-as belongs to the north district.
