The Cebu City Police Office has decided to recommend the inclusion of notorious robber Doroteo Imperial to the list of most wanted persons here in Cebu City.
Acting CCPO director Patrocinio Comendador yesterday said that it is now proper for them to recommend Imperial as one of the city's most wanted persons because of his involvement in the recent robberies here.
Comendador said that once Imperial's name will be forwarded to the Police Regional Office-7, it will be the latter that will endorse Imperial's name to the Department of Interior and Local Government.
He said that once the national government approves of their recommendation, the bounty on Imperial's head will be determined which is based on the evaluation being conducted by the regional office.
Comendador also said that the police cannot just recommend for the giving of any awards or rewards to any individual who would be able to report the whereabouts of Imperial, unless there is a validation.
Imperial, who has a pending warrant of arrest for his involvement in the East-West Bank robbery in 2005, has also been tagged in the recent robberies here in the city.
He was indentified as the one responsible for the robbery at the Yusay Credit and Finance Corporation along Gorordo Avenue last month.
Imperial was also identified as one of two suspects who robbed Anchor Savings Bank two weeks ago. He and a companion allegedly pretended to be customers, but identified themselves as "vigilantes" and then robbed the bank of P370,000.
Again, he was identified as one of three suspects who robbed Equitable-PCI Bank collector Sherwin Cabarrubias last Monday carting away only checks issued by four clients and Cabarrubias' personal money worth P2,000.
Comendador also said that aside from Imperial, he is also contemplating on the inclusion of Roldan Villanueva, another notorious robber, to the city's list of most wanted. Villanueva is said to be a constant companion of Imperial. - Flor Z. Perolina
