Man shot dead by toughies

A laborer at the Carbon market was shot dead by two men he allegedly caught in the act of trying to burglarize a stall at the Carbon Market Unit 1 last Sunday night.

Roy dela Cerna, 28, of L. Flores street in barangay Ermita, died on the way to the Cebu City Medical Center after he was allegedly shot by cousins Jeffry and Vergel Lausa, both also laborers and residents of sitio Bato, barangay Ermita.

PO2 Ariel Nator of the Carbon police station described the two alleged assailants as well-known robbers and toughies in the Carbon market.

Homicide investigator SPO3 Zenaido Pastorfide said that based on the investigation they conducted, the victim was relieving himself in the said place when the alleged assailants suddenly approached him and without provocation took turns shooting him.

Despite being hit several times in different parts of the body the victim was still able to run away and went to the police station for help.
