Truck loses control crashes into island

Three men were hurt after a truck lost control and hit two lampposts before crashing into the center island and another truck in the Reclamation Area in Mandaue City yesterday noon.
PO1 Richard Suycano of the Traffic Management of the Mandaue City Police Office identified the injured as Filomeno Lara, 30, and his truck boys James Piañar,19, of barangay Liloan, Tabogon town and Arthur Bontino, 18, of barangay Tipolo, Mandaue City, all employees of H and E Industries in Guizo, Mandaue City.
Suycano said Lara was driving the truck with plate number YCJ-904 was to Mandaue City from Cebu City when he lost control and hit the two lamp post installed for the ASEAN Summit last month before swerving back to the left and hitting the center island.
Because of the impact, the truck flipped over on its right side, hitting the rear of another flatbed truck ahead before it finally rested lying on is right side on the center island with it ends intruding into both lanes of traffic.
One witness, identified as Linoy Paguia, 36, of Carbon Market in Ermita, said he was nearly hit by the truck.
He was driving a multicab from Carbon market and traveling towards Mandaue when suddenly the truck overtook him and nearly hit the right side of his vehicle.
But instead of slowing down, the truck reportedly continued, prompting him to try to chase and reprimand the driver but he noticed that the truck started swerving from right to left in both lanes and then hit the two lampposts.
The driver and his companions were immediately pulled out of the cab by passing motorists, they were then taken to the Cebu Community Hospital in Cebu City on a taxicab.
The victims suffered various head and body injuries, one of them had a bad head laceration, an witness reported.
