A former inmate of the Bagong Buhay Rehabilitation Center was found lying dead in front of the Lucky 7 Supermarket in barangay San Roque last Sunday dawn.
The man who was identified only as a certain "Undo" was found lying dead on a bamboo bench and had a single gunshot wound to the head.
Police believed he was shot dead as he slept, no witnesses came forward to tell what happened.
"Morag nahadlok, di man manug-an gipangutana kon naay nadungggan buto, mangambot ra man," SPO1 Desiderio Mendaros said.
Residents of the place said that the victim lived in barangay Mabolo but goes there every night just to sleep.
Police said the victim had two tattoos on him; a "BC 45" tattoo on his right arm and "Reubal Haide" on the left side of his chest. They also recovered a .45 cal. slug from the crime scene.
Police have yet to confirm if he is a victim of so-called vigilantes operating in the city who target mostly ex-convicts. The Homicide Section of the Cebu City Police Office said 178 victims have been killed by vigilantes since December 22, 2004. - Flor Z. Perolina/BRP
