Four arrested for violating gun ban

Four men were arrested separately in different towns in the province for possession of unlicensed firearms and for violating the Commission on Elections gun ban.

In Barili town, policemen arrested Brian Lee Agoncillo and Christian Ramos, both 19 years old, from Argao town, for possession of a .38 caliber gun with four live ammunitions and a .357 firearm, respectively.

PO2 Job Sarvida of the Barili police said that the two men were with their girlfriends attending a benefit dance yesterday dawn in barangay Japitan, in Barili.

While at the dance, the two got into a fight with three other men identified as Andrew Carreon, and cousins Rey and Richard Villafuerte, who were residents of the said place.

The three, noticing that Agoncillo and Ramos had firearms with them, reported the matter to the police. Agoncillo and Ramos are now detained at the Barili police station.

In San Remigio town, 24-year-old Nacensino Armero was arrested by a joint team of policemen and barangay tanods after he was seen brandishing a firearm and creating trouble at the Poblacion public market.

In Danao City meanwhile, a concerned citizen called up the Danao Police station and reported that a trisikad driver was causing trouble at the Poblacion.

SPO4 Teofilo Deguilmo identified the suspect as Nelson Capin, a resident of barangay Looc. Police found a .38 caliber revolver with three live ammunitions in his possession. Capin is now detained at the Danao police station pending the filing of charges against him. - Flor Z. Perolina/QSB
